Former UK catcher Luke Maile added to Rays roster

Former UK baseball catcher Luke Maile’s MLB dream came true on Monday night.

The Tampa Bay Rays added Maile to September’s expanded roster. He had spent the 2015 season playing with the Durham Bulls, the Rays Triple-A affiliate. The Crestview Hills, Ky., native had five home runs, nine doubles and 29 runs batted-in in 89 games with the Bulls.

Maile played with the Cats from 2010-12. During his time in Lexington, Maile hit .295 with 23 doubles, three triples, 24 home runs and 93 RBI’s, swiping 17-of-21 bases.

His best year in Lexington came as a junior in 2012. He earned All-SEC accolades after batting.319 with 13 doubles, 12 homers and 51 RBI’s, owning a .533 slugging and a .426 on-base percentage.
