UK football landed its 18^th commitment and eighth from the state of Ohio on Sunday as three-star defensive tackle Javon Provitt committed to UK.

The 6-foot-3, 305 tackle from outside of Youngstown chose UK over Pittsburgh and Maryland. The addition of Provitt gives UK a boost at a defensive line position that lost defensive ends Bud Dupree and Za’Darius Smith.

The Ohio native was recruited heavily by UK head coach Mark Stoops and recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow, both who are from Ohio. Provitt is ranked as the No.77 defensive tackle in the senior class by Rivals.com and 247Sports.

With his ability as a run-stopper in the middle and a physicality at the point of attack, Provitt’s addition will help a UK defense that was 85^th in the nation in run defense and 74^th overall.
