Alex Johnson’s family sues city of Lexington

The family of Alex Johnson, a former UK chef who was murdered in December of 2013, is suing the city of Lexington for allegedly failing to properly respond to 911 calls made while Johnson was being attacked.

According to a report by LEX18.com, Johnson’s parents filed a lawsuit on Monday that indicated that the call takers failed to do their jobs when they received two calls for help from witnesses who saw Johnson being beaten.

The reports were not delivered to the police as a crime “in progress,” the Johnson family told LEX18, which could have meant a faster police response.

The city of Lexington reportedly told LEX18 that they could not comment on current lawsuits.

Alex Johnson, 32, worked at the Hilary J. Boone Center. His body was discovered in the Kentucky River more than a month after he went missing on Dec. 20. According to LEX18, suspects Robert Markham Taylor and Timothy Ballard will stand trial next October.
