No. 7 UK Hoops defeats MTSU on the road

No. 7 UK Hoops recorded a 84-72 win over the Blue Raiders of Middle Tennessee State University in  Murfreesboro, Tenn. UK led the entire game, only allowing MTSU to tie the game once.

UK junior guard Bria Goss and senior guard Kastine Evans scored 16 and 15 points, respectively, leading the Cats.

Goss and Evans were joined by senior forward Samarie Walker and junior guard Jennifer O’Neill as four Cats scored in double figures. Walker had 12 points and eight boards while O’Neill scored 14 points.

Every player available on the UK roster played, with all but two of them recording points. In the first half, the Cats used their range to get off to a fast start, shooting 71.4 percent from behind the arc in the first half.

The Cats forced 23 turnovers and outscored the Blue Raiders 29-18 in bench points. MTSU was led by Lexington, Ky., native freshman forward Ebony Rowe. Rowe scored a game-high 28 points and grabbed eight boards in the loss, also helping MTSU outscore UK 36-32 in the paint.

Rowe was the only Blue Raider in double figures despite the 46.2 team field goal percentage.

The Cats play next against Bradley University at 12 p.m. on Wednesday in Memorial Coiliseum.
