Offensive lineman T.J. Jones has been dismissed from the UK football team for a “violation of team rules”, a team spokesman confirmed to the Kernel on Wednesday.

Jones, who was due to be a redshirt freshman this season, was arrested over the winter break on weapons charges in his hometown of Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The police report of the charges detailed that Jones was arrested for possessing a gun on the grounds of his former high school.

The 6-foot-6, 320-pound tackle continued to participate in team activities, including spring practice, after his arrest.

The offensive lineman becomes the third UK player to be dismissed since the beginning of head coac Mark Stoops’ tenure at UK.

Cornerbacks Jonathan Reed and Marcus Caffey were dismissed in January for a “violation of team rules”.
