UK gymnastics hosts its second home meet of the season Friday when the Cats welcome No. 6 LSU to Memorial Coliseum.

Up until last weekend’s defeat at Alabama, No. 16 UK (4-2, 2-1 SEC) were enjoying the best start ever to a season.

The Cats’ strong start to the season has seen them climb into the top 25 in four events.

On the floor exercise, UK is ranked at No. 16, largely thanks to junior Audrey Harrison, who holds an average of 9.80 in the event.

In vault the Cats hold the No. 25 position, with sophomore Kenzie Hedges leading UK with an average of 9.831.

Rankings of No. 18 in uneven bars and No. 19 on beam have the Cats in a good position to take their sixth all-time win over the Tigers.

LSU (5-2, 1-1 SEC) leads the all-time series, 66-5, and travels to Lexington on the back of a season-high score of 197.100 at the recent Metroplex Challenge.

The Tigers will be led by junior Maliah Mathis, who heads into Friday’s meet as the reigning SEC Specialist of the Week.

Friday’s meet gets under way at 7 p.m. at Memorial Coliseum, with the first 500  through the doors being given free UK gymnastics magnets.
