Alex Poythress is a 6-foot-7, 239-pound freshman forward from Clarksville, Tenn. He was named named Mr. Basketball and Gatorade State Player of the Year in Tennessee his senior year for the Northeast Eagles High School, where he averaged 30.4 points-per-game.
Poythress was a top-ten rated recruit by both Scout.com and Rivals.com, and joins the Cats as part of the No. 1 ranked recruiting class of 2012.
He spoke with the Kernel in early September about his adjustment to college life and expectations for the upcoming season.
