Men’s soccer extends winning streak

UK Men’s soccer extended its winning streak to three Saturday with a 2-0 win at Evansville.

UK went ahead in the 39th minute through junior Tyler Riggs after good work by senior Jacob Kemper down the wing. Kemper’s ball into the box was met by Riggs, who took his time to find an opening before drilling the ball past Eric Teppen in the Evansville net.

Riggs was again involved in the Cats’ second score of the game, this time playing the role of architect. His cross into senior Matt Lodge saw the Englishman launch a rocket which nettled in the back of Teppen’s net to put UK up 2-0 with 12 minutes to play.

That was all the Cats needed to hold on, with freshman goalkeeper Jack Van Arsdale collecting the shutout without having to make a single save all game.

UK continues its Indiana road trip Tuesday with a trip to Fort Wayne where they take on the Mastodons of Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne.
