ESPN complimentary of Davis, Teague

ESPN’s Eamonn Brennan shared some observations about Marquis Teague and Anthony Davis after attending a weekend of camps.

  • On Teague: Brennan said he had no reason to think Teague won’t live up to the “next in line” status as a Calipari point guard. “Teague sliced and diced opposing defenders, found his way into the lane with relative ease, and showcased an intuitive understanding of the various ways to attack off a ball screen,” Brennan wrote, describing one screen he expertly operated with Davis.
  • On Davis: Brennan busted out the NBA Draft specialty, citing his length and wingspan as the primary factors he can be a defensive presence. Brennan also noted, however, that Davis does not have a fully developed frame. Brennan said Davis might experience some games against good low-post threats where he gets pushed around on the defensive end. Brennan compared his body build to Baylor’s Perry Jones, who ended up returning to college for his sophomore year despite being a lottery lock to continue improving. “Jones struggled somewhat during his first season in Waco and decided to return for a second,” Brennan wrote. “Could Davis do the same?”
