A UK student was in stable and good condition Thursday evening after being hit by a car crossing the South Limestone in front of the College of Law building on her way to class.

First-year law student Megan Handshoe appeared to be crossing legally and was not at fault, said Lexington Police spokeswoman Sharon Garner. The driver stopped after striking Handshoe, Garner said, and when the ambulance arrived, the injuries did not appear to be serious.

Late Thursday morning, Handshoe was alert and feeling some pain, her mother said in an interview at about 11:30 a.m.
