Jodie Meeks will enter the NBA Draft but will not hire an agent, according to a release from UK Athletics. Not hiring an agent allows Meeks the opportunity to return to school if he so chooses.
The draft is on June 25, and players without agents have until June 15 to remove their names from the hat and return to their college teams. If Meeks has not removed his name from the draft after June 15, he automatically foregoes his senior year regardless of if he eventually gets drafted.
The last UK player to enter the draft early and return was Randolph Morris after his freshman season. He eventually signed with the New York Knicks after returning to UK for two more years.
Meeks set numerous school and arena records this season, while his 23.7 points per game was eighth-best in the nation. Among his record nights was a school-record 54 points against Tennessee on Jan. 13.

Jodie, what are you doing? We’ve just gotten an excellent coach who could bring the Wildcats back to the prominence they’re used to by next year, especially with you there. You could break so many more records if you’d just come back. The millions can wait one more year. It will still be there. This is a proud program and you as a great player should want to further that. I hope you reconsider. Go Big Blue.
