Man shot and killed on off-campus street

A man was killed just after midnight on Friday, May 5, according to a statement from Lexington Police Department’s Public Information Office.

Officers were dispatched to the Pine Street and Jersey Street area at 12:31 a.m. for a shooting. Upon arrival, they located a male victim with a gunshot wound.

According to the statement, the victim was then transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. 

“Investigators believe the shooting may have occurred after a large disorder,” the statement said. 

The victim was identified by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office as Clinton Brown, 21. 

Based on UK’s records, Brown was not a UK student, Jay Blanton, UK’s spokesperson, told the Kernel.

The statement said that investigators are asking for anyone with information about the case to call Lex PD at (859) 258-3600.
