On Saturday evening, the UK volleyball team won their fourth game in a row, defeating the Kennesaw State Owls in four sets 3-1 (25-17, 24-26, 25-15, 25-19).

The Cats came out with great intensity on the floor during the first set to jump to a 1-0 match lead. KSU would answer though as the second set would go down to the wire where KSU would eventually even the match at 1-1.

The third and fourth sets were dominated by Kentucky as the Cats had great team contribution.

Leah Edmond, Emily Franklin and Kaz Brown all had a big game for the Cats. They all managed to have double-digit kills in tonight’s matchup.

Franklin had 10 kills, Brown had 14 and Edmond 19.

Madison Lilly did a good job setting her teammates up tonight as she finished the night with 41 assists.

On the other end of the floor, the team totaled seven blocks.

Leading the team in digs was Ashley Dusek, who posted 14 for her team.

For KSU, the team would have good performances from Anaiah Boyer, Maddie Jones and Liesl Engelbrecht. Boyer had 13 kills, Jones had 12 and Engelbrecht had nine.

While all three of these players had decent performances, it wouldn’t be enough as the Owls would still fall three sets to one to the Cats. Katrina Morton led the Owls in digs with 16. On the other side of the floor the team totaled six blocks.

The next match-up for the No. 12 Cats is Sept. 20 at 8 p.m. against the Missouri Tigers.
