UK football head coach Mark Stoops announced Monday that he’s hoping quarterback Sawyer Smith “will be good today” after getting banged up in last weekend’s contest against Mississippi State. He added that Smith was sore and “wouldn’t have been able to throw” yesterday as he’s looking to see how he does this week.

Wide receiver Isaiah Epps is nearing his season debut, according to Stoops. He said that he thinks Epps could be back right after the Cats’ bye week, which would be a home matchup against Arkansas on Oct. 12. Stoops added that safety Taj Dodson could also be back for this weekend’s game at South Carolina.
