No. 21 Kentucky baseball (18-2, 3-0 SEC) completed its SEC-opening sweep of the Alabama Crimson Tide (15-7, 0-3 SEC), winning the final game 6-4 and extending its win streak to 13 games.
The Wildcats got most of their production from starting pitcher Nate Harris, who delivered his best outing of the season.
He opened with six no-hit innings before allowing a hit in the seventh and leaving with two runners on base. Both later scored as part of Alabama’s four-run seventh inning.
Four bullpen arms combined over the final two innings to shut the door, allowing no further damage and securing the win.
This included shutting down Alabama’s biggest threat, Justin Lebron, for the third straight game.
Kentucky continued its dominance at the plate throughout the weekend. After tallying nine hits on Friday and 10 on Saturday, the Wildcats added eight more on Sunday, along with seven free passes.
Alabama started ace pitcher Myles Upchurch, who entered with a 3-1 record and was making his fifth start of the season after an 11-strikeout performance the week prior.
Kentucky jumped on him early, as Hudson Brown launched his second home run of the year, and second in as many days.
The Bat Cats forced Upchurch to work, drawing five walks in just 3.2 innings.
Tyler Bell capitalized on those opportunities, driving in two runs with an RBI single to right field.
The Wildcats looked strong throughout the entire series, easing concerns about upcoming matchups against ranked opponents and the demanding SEC schedule.
What separates Kentucky, however, is its consistency and depth — attributes that stand out across the conference.
From the middle infield and outfield to the catching unit and bullpen, Alabama served as a key test for head coach Nick Mingione in evaluating who can produce and win.
Brown embodied that consistency, emerging as one of the stars of the weekend. In addition to his home run, he added another RBI single and continues to impress, now batting .352.
He isn’t alone. Four other Wildcats are hitting above .300, leading the team into another week of play as March comes to a close.
The Wildcats will embark on two consecutive road weekends, beginning with their first SEC road trip to Oxford, Mississippi, where they will face the No. 19 Ole Miss Rebels (17-5, 1-2 SEC). First pitch for the series opener is set for Friday, March 19 at 8:30 p.m.
