The Kentucky Wildcats track team competed in the Tiger Paw Invitational, travelling to Clemson, S.C., for the two-day competition.
The Cats opened up the weekend with junior Grayson Brashear throwing a career-best of 19.40m/63-7.75 in the men’s weight throw final, which placed him fourth in the event.
Junior Emmi Scales continues to make an impact in Kentucky history, again reclaiming the top spot in the women’s national 60m hurdles rankings, running a new career-best time of 7.86 in the semifinal round.
The time moves her into the second all-time rankings in Kentucky history.
Scales came back for the final round of the women’s 60m hurdles, finishing second with a new career best time of 7.83.
Which put her just 0.08 seconds behind Masai Russell, who holds the Kentucky 60m hurdles school record.
Sophomore Rukia Nusra Omulisia ran in the same event, ending with a career-best time of 8.20, which placed her 10th all-time for Kentucky.
In the men’s 60m hurdles, sophomore Anthony Waterman ran a personal best time of 7.77, which placed him seventh all-time for Kentucky.
During his freshman year outdoor season, he ranked eighth all-time in the 110m hurdles and ninth all-time in the 400m hurdles with a personal best of 52.18.
Day two continues with personal bests and records being broken.
Starting off strong for the Wildcats, freshman Vanice Kerubo Nyagisera ran a personal best time in the women’s 800m with a time of 2:03.21, which made her the second freshman to break the women’s 800m Kentucky record.
Sophomore Janet Jepkemboi Amino held the Kentucky record for the women’s indoor 800m with a time of 2:03.25, which she set last season as a freshman.
Jepkemboi still holds the Kentucky outdoor 800m record and freshman record with a time of 2:00.36.
In the men’s 800m, junior Patrick Faust ran a personal best time of 1:48.92, placing him third in the event and moving him up to eighth in Kentucky’s all-time leaderboard.
Just as a sophomore last season, he made a name for himself by winning the men’s 800m event at the Rod McCravy Memorial with a time of 1:50.29.
In the field events, two Wildcats ended up placing second, with junior Kate Powers in the women’s weight throw, throwing a distance of 21.61m, and senior Theo Mudzengerere in the men’s triple jump with a distance of 16.19m.
Junior Grayson Brashear threw a career-best distance of 18.39m/60-4 in the men’s shot put.
The Wildcats continued making a name for themselves, as transfer athlete Dahlia Beasley, a transfer coming from Rutgers, jumped a personal best 1.61m in the women’s high jump in her sophomore season.
In the women’s 200m event, senior Hannah Douglas placed 10th with a time of 23.39, just right off of her personal best time of 23.04.
This wasn’t her only event of the day, as she was also a part of the women’s 4×400-meter relay team.
Closing out the weekend invitational was the women’s and men’s 4×400-meter relay team.
Runners on the relay team consisted of sophomore A’Laji Bradley, Douglas, Nyagisera and junior Cha’iel Johnson, who placed second with a final time of 3:29.14.
The men’s relay team finished with a time of 3:07.12.
Next up for the Kentucky Wildcats will be a trip down to College Station, Texas, for the 2026 SEC Indoor Championships on Feb. 26-28 at the Fasken Indoor Facility.
