Sylvia Freire is a Louisville, Kentucky, native. She is a sophomore undergraduate student at the University of Kentucky, majoring in journalism with a minor in political science.
While at the Kentucky Kernel, she has been the copy editor and assistant news editor, focusing on breaking news, political reporting and the Catching Up with the Kernel news podcast. Outside of the Kernel, she is a radio DJ for the local radio station, WRFL Lexington 88.1FM.
She hopes to work for a news corporation as a foreign correspondent or political journalist.

I am a multimedia journalist based out of Lexington, Kentucky. I currently work as a broadcast/multimedia reporter and photographer, and serve as the Video Editor for the Kentucky Kernel.
