From being ranked No. 1 golfer in the state of Kentucky in 2020, to starting her rookie season on the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) in 2026, Laney Frye now joins the highest-ranked golf tour in the world.
The Nicholasville native and former member of the Kentucky women’s golf team, Frye competed in multiple events on the Epson Tour after graduating from Kentucky in the spring of 2024.
She played in 19 tournaments, made 16 cuts and claimed six top-10 finishes. Frye also earned a runner-up finish at the Great Lakes Championship in June of 2025.
Frye competed in the 2025 Epson Tour Championship at Indian Wells, California, on the week of October 2–5. Before starting the event, she was ranked 14th in the Race for the Card standings. To remain in the top 15 overall for the season, she needed to finish in 10th place or higher.
Frye accomplished that with a 16-under-par round of 272, finishing in the top 10 and secured 15th place in the Race for the Card rankings.
Frye was one of five Epson Tour rookies in 2025 and will be a rookie on the LPGA in 2026. 14 others also were promoted to the LPGA.
Before her professional career, Frye played four years for Kentucky. During her time with the Wildcats, she earned four All-American selections and three All-SEC selections. She was also a four-time All-American Scholar and won the 2022–23 Edith Cummings Munson Award.
