The University of Kentucky remains open after the first snowfall in Lexington of the semester, on Dec. 2.
UK sent a campus community email on Monday, Dec. 1, stating they hoped to remain open without impacting the campus and community.
“The forecast predicts snow and ice tonight and early in the morning,” the email wrote. “Crews from across campus are ready to respond to any inclement weather as needed.”
The winter weather advisory is in effect until 10 a.m., according to the Weather Channel’s webpage.
Fayette County Public Schools closed due to inclement weather, according to WKYT.
Other surrounding universities, including Kentucky State University, are operating on a 2-hour delay, according to their Instagram page.
The University of Louisville remains remote, according to its Instagram page, due to the advisory.
The university said it will send a UK Alert, email and post on social media platforms with any changes that may occur.
