Less than 24 hours after Mark Stoops was officially dismissed as Kentucky football head coach, Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports along with Pete Nakos and Chris Low of On3 have reported that Will Stein will be the next coach of the Wildcats.
Since the day that Stoops’ seat got hot, Stein has been linked to the job.
With time being of the essence, it was critical that this got done quickly and Mitch Barnhart moved very fast in making this happen.
Stein will takeover as head coach after being the Offensive Coordinator for the Oregon Ducks.
The next step in the process is to see how the rest of the coaching staff will take shape over the coming days and weeks now that head position has been filled.
The reputation Stein will be brining to Lexington is a high-flying offensive style as the Ducks have been the top of country in most offensive categories for multiple years now.
It is currently unknown the official details of his contact and the announcement is yet to be made official by Kentucky.
Stein has deep connections to the program being from Louisville, Kentucky, but rooting for the blue and white Wildcats as both of his parents are graduates of UK.
Furthermore, his father Matt played for Kentucky and Stein grew up in the stands of Commonwealth Stadium.
Those same stands will now be filled watching to see where the new leader of Kentucky football takes the program in 2026 and beyond.
