Kentucky women’s golf concluded the first half of its 2025-26 season with a ninth-place finish at the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, North Carolina.
The Wildcats were back on the links in North Carolina, this time by the beach, as they shot 15-over par during the three-day stretch.
It was an all-around great effort on behalf of the Wildcats and their opponents during a star-studded lineup represented by 18 different schools.
Several Wildcats, including sophomores C.A. Carter and Karlie Campbell, came out hot by starting their rounds both going 2-under par.
Junior Cathryn Brown followed the sophomore crowd by starting her tournament 3-under par.
Campbell, who led the pack for the Wildcats last weekend in Chapel Hill, picked up right where she left off and then some.
After a shaky performance on a tough course last week, she was ready to leave North Carolina this weekend on a high note.
She started hot, setting the tone early with a birdie on the first hole and another on hole three to go 2-under on the front nine, where she eventually ended her first round after going even on the back nine.
Carter also put up a great performance, going 2-under while mixing in some bogeys but countering them with five birdies on the first day.
Brown’s round replicated Carter’s as she also carded four bogeys but countered them with five birdies to end her day 1-under, giving Kentucky three golfers to shoot under par on the first day and a second-place hold.
Brown continued to shine into the second day, going 1-over par, and although Carter stumbled a bit with some double and triple bogeys, she ended her day on a high note with a successful eagle putt.
Campbell continued to replicate Carter’s game as they both shared a spot in 18th place and led the pack for Kentucky.
The third day brought more solid play as Brown ended her weekend shooting 3-over par.
Campbell again was out swinging, looking for a record day after two early birdies, but a steady pace in the final 15 holes with some bogeys mixed in ended her week maintaining that 18th-place position.
The big three of the weekend ended with Carter once again as she was the leader throughout day three, going even on the day and tallying yet another eagle on the back nine.
Similar play from the trio of Brown, Carter and Campbell, feeding off each other’s games this weekend, got the Wildcats into a strong position as they head into a short break before the second half of the season begins.
The young Wildcats will be back on the links Feb. 2-4 in Boca Raton, Florida, at the Paradise Invitational to kick off the second half of the 2025-26 campaign.
