The Office of the Vice President for Research announced a new unit for security, export, compliance and university research engagement (SECURE).
On Tuesday, Sept. 16, an email sent to faculty said SECURE is responsible for the University of Kentucky’s compliance with research projects in export control areas, research security, research data security, conflicts of interest and conflicts of commitment.
“SECURE will be our hub to train investigators and protect the university in these critical areas,” the email said.
All investigators at UK will be required to complete the new “Research Security Training (Combined)” through Collaborative Institutional Training Institutions (CITI) program by Oct. 1.
According to the email, the training fulfills requirements made by the National Institutes of Health and other federal agencies.
Future announcements for SECURE will be posted on their website and sent via email.
