Two accounts of rape and one account of sodomy were reported to the University of Kentucky’s Police Department (UKPD) this weekend, according to the UK crime log.
Both reports were said to have occurred in “undeclared” on-campus residence halls.
The first was made on Friday, Sept. 5, regarding an alleged rape said to have happened at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4.
The second report, made on Saturday, Sept. 6, pertains to one account of first-degree rape and one account of first-degree sodomy, according to the crime log. It lists these alleged offenses as having occurred at 4 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4.
The account of rape reported on Friday was brought to UKPD “by a Campus Security Authority (CSA) under victim confidentiality, therefore there is no police report,” according to UKPD spokesperson Dani Jaffe.
Jaffe said CSAs are required to report this type of crime “for statistical purposes under the Clery Act,” but that the reports do not “automatically result in a police investigation.”
“Survivors always have the choice to file a police report but can also report and seek support in a variety of ways on campus,” Jaffe said.
The report from Sept. 5 is listed as “Closed – CSA,” meaning there’s no investigation into the incident at this time.
The report from Sept. 6, however, is being actively investigated by UKPD, though no police report is yet available, according to Jaffe.
