A University of Kentucky student and STUNT team member charged with abusing a corpse, evidence tampering and concealing the birth of an infant was ordered to house arrest on Tuesday, Sept. 2.
Laken Snelling, 21, was arrested in connection to the death of an infant on Sunday, Aug. 31. According to court documents, the infant was found wrapped in a towel inside a trash bag alongside cleaning supplies in a closet at a house on Park Avenue.
She is charged with two class D felonies, tampering with physical evidence and the abuse of a corpse, and one class A misdemeanor, concealing the birth of an infant. According to court documents, Snelling plead not guilty to all three charges at the arraignment.
She admitted to giving birth, concealing the birth by cleaning evidence and placing the infant, as well as cleaning supplies, in the black trash bag, the documents said.
Fayette County District Court Judge John L. Tackett approved her bond and ordered she be on house arrest at her parentsā home in Tennessee.Ā
The infantās autopsy report has not yet been released, according to the Fayette County Coronerās Office.
Snellingās preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, 2025.
