The University of Kentucky football team will host its first home game of the season on Saturday, Aug. 30, resulting in increased traffic and parking restrictions around campus.
According to UKNow, students and employees who park in certain campus lots, such as Kroger Field, are required to relocate their vehicles before 7 a.m. Saturday in preparation for the 12:45 p.m. game.Ā
Several streets on and near campus will be designated no-parking zones from 6 a.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday, including Crescent Avenue, State Street and University Avenue. Any violators will be towed, according to the Lexington Police Department and the UK Police Department.

The Lexington Police Department warned drivers to expect heavy traffic throughout Labor Day weekend in a press release sent via email on Friday, Aug. 29.Ā
According to the statement, officers will direct traffic before and after the game. Drivers and pedestrians are urged to follow posted signs and police instructions.Ā
“We want everyone to have a safe Labor Day weekend,” said Lt. Jeremiah Davis of the Lexington Police Department traffic section. “There are several events in Lexington this weekend, and we are asking drivers to allow extra time to make it to their destination and use caution while driving.”Ā
