Two University of Kentucky students have been charged with the rape of another student in an on-campus residence hall.
Freshmen Angus Thompson, 18, and Addison Adkins, 18, were arrested on Monday, March 3, 2025. Thompson was charged with 1st-degree rape, and Adkins was charged with 1st-degree rape and 2nd-degree strangulation, according to the arrest warrant.
Adkins was a student at the time of the incident, but withdrew from UK on March 2, according to UK spokesperson Jay Blanton.
The incident occurred in Ball Hall on the evening of Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2025, and was reported to UK Police on Feb. 22.
Thompson appeared in court on Zoom and Adkins appeared in person. Both defendants pled not-guilty.
Both defendants posted a $25,000 bond and were released, according to the Lexington jail website.
Thompson and Adkins were ordered not to go on or near UK’s campus or to contact the victim. The co-defendants were also ordered to not contact one another.
