The Henry Clay Blue Devils defeated the Paul Laurence Dunbar Bulldogs 91-57 on Tuesday night at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School.
Henry Clay came into this game 18-7, losing its last two games by one and two points. Dunbar’s record this season is 3-24.
The first time these two teams met this season was on Jan. 31 at Henry Clay. The Blue Devils won 78-47.
The Bulldogs hosted their senior night and, after this season, will lose four players. Senior Kason Carpenter led them in scoring with 16 points followed by sophomore Dominic Faulker with 14 points.
The Blue Devils were led by Jackson Stephan, Hassan Bush and AJ Dixon. These three came together to score 44 points, almost half of the team’s total points.
Henry Clay came out of the gate strong and finished the first quarter 29-13, more than double the Bulldogs’ points.
The Bulldogs had a rough first half, only shooting 37% from the field in the first half while the Blue Devils shot 51.3%.

The Blue Devils led the whole game with their fast-paced style and the Bulldogs were not able to get set on defense. They also outrebounded Dunbar by 22 rebounds. Stephan led the Blue Devils with 12.
The third quarter ended 65-39 with Henry Clay continuing to extend its lead. Carpenter hit some very essential threes for the Bulldogs and ended the game with four in total, but it wasn’t enough.
Overall, being a top 25 team, Henry Clay is a tough team to beat.
