After seeing his most game action of the season against Missouri, Lynn Bowden was named the SEC Freshman of the Week according to the league office.

Bowden led the Cats with 128 all-purpose yards, 49 of which came from his three catches and the other 79 game from his three kick returns. All three of Bowden’s catches resulted in first downs for the Cats.

Bowden could be in line for more touches after his performance against the Tigers. In one of his catches in the fourth quarter, Bowden broke a couple of tackles and zigzagged across the field to turn a play that should’ve resulted in no gain to a 20-yard gain.

Bowden is the fifth Cat this season to earn a weekly SEC honor. The freshman has 368 all-purpose yards on the season, with most of those coming from his kick returns. Bowden has yet to score a touchdown this season.

The Cats will be back in action on Oct. 21 when they travel to Mississippi State. The team is currently on their bye week.
