UK football announced Saturday that offensive lineman Landon Young suffered a right knee injury in practice and is ruled out for the season.

Young, a junior, has helped carve out space on the offensive line for Benny Snell Jr. to break several school records alongside Drake Jackson, Jon Toth, Cole Mosier and others.

Young is the second player with a significant setback heading into the season, as defensive end Joshua Paschal was diagnosed with malignant melanoma on his foot heading into the season. Head coach Mark Stoops is set to address Young’s injury at his weekly press conference on Monday.

UK will open its season next week against Central Michigan on Sept. 1.
