UK quarterback Terry Wilson out for the season
September 8, 2019
UK Athletics has officially announced the severity of UK quarterback Terry Wilson’s injury. He will miss the remainder of the season due to a torn patellar tendon in his left knee that will require surgery, according to a UK press release.
Wilson was injured after going down from an illegal horse collar tackle late in the third quarter Saturday night against Eastern Michigan, and was carted off the field. Before the injury, Wilson completed 14-of-26 passes for 114 yards, and also gained 43 yards on the ground on eight carries and a rushing touchdown. Transfer Sawyer Smith will be Wilson’s replacement, who finished out the game Saturday after Wilson went to the locker room.
“I think the guys have a lot of confidence in Sawyer,” UK Head Coach Mark Stoops said. “Guys feel for Terry because he’s worked hard and he’s a leader on our team. You know, it’s a part of our game, injuries.”
