My time at the kernel has felt untraditional. See, i’m not a writer, and being a part of a newsroom was not where I saw myself spending my time when I started college. Nonetheless, being surrounded by talented and driven storytellers was one of the most unexpected gifts UK has brought me.
The Kernel helped narrow my passion for art into a passion for bringing important stories to life with collage, digital illustrations, and expressive typography. I especially want to thank Quézia for her fierce dedication to journalism and her trust in me to illustrate her stories!
Thank you to Giana, Ryan, and Bryce for your leadership and your endless reassurance in my ability to make cool shit! You all always pushed me to be creative and try new things, and me and my portfolio thank you.
