Kentucky football (2-2, 0-2 SEC) is set to hit the road for a clash with No. 12 Georgia (3-1, 1-1 SEC).
What to Watch-
Both teams come in looking to get back on track as Kentucky is winless through its first two games in the SEC after a home loss to Ole Miss and a 35-13 road blowout to South Carolina.
The Bulldogs started off its SEC slate with a come from behind win over Tennessee but fell to Alabama at home 24-21.
Georgia will also enter the game on a 15-game winning streak against the Wildcats, which is the second longest in school history against any one program.
When playing in Lexington, the last two meetings between the two teams have been within a possession or two as last year the Bulldogs eked out a 13-12 win, but in between the hedges, it’s a different story.
In their last five meetings in Athens, the Bulldogs have outscored Kentucky 171-32.
Offense-
After some back-and-forth in the early going of the season, Kentucky has finally landed on a quarterback as Cutter Boley will be making his third consecutive start.
It has been two very different starts for the redshirt freshman as his first game was by far the best the offense has looked this season as he threw for 240 yards and two touchdowns.
Going on the road to South Carolina was a big test for Boley and the offense started out masterfully with a flawless touchdown drive.
However, things went downhill quickly and Boley finished with 124 yards, two interceptions and a fumble.
Seth McGowen has been the pillar of this Kentucky offense as he’s rushed for 393 yards and seven touchdowns, which is third in the SEC.
Dante Dowdell rounds out the two-back approach for the Wildcats as he’s run for 238 yards through five games.
Kentucky has yet to find its wide receiver standout this season, so it has resulted in a cluster of receivers being right around the 110 yard mark this season.
Willie Rodriguez does have them edged out by a little bit and is the leading receiver with 134 yards.
Looking at overall offense, Kentucky ranks 13th in yards per game at 347 and is tied for 14th in the conference in points per game with 27.
When it comes to the home Bulldogs, Gunnar Stockton has thrown for 851 yards and five touchdowns this season. The redshirt junior is coming off his worst start statistically this season as he only threw for 130 yards against Alabama.
While the end result was not what the Bulldogs wanted, Chauncey Bowens had a phenomenal game on the ground as he finished with 119 yards and a score. Bowens leads the team with 240 yards on the year.
Like Kentucky, Georgia also features two running backs as Nate Frazier has rushed 219 yards so far this season.
Colbie Young and Zachariah Branch have been the leading receiver duo for the Bulldogs as Young leads the team with 238 receiving yards and Branch is just behind him with 216 yards.
When it comes to overall numbers, Georgia is eighth in the SEC with 442 yards per game and drops one spot to ninth in points per game at 34.5.
Defense-
Both of these programs have built reputations on having a very staunch defense, but neither one has really lived up to that mantra in 2025.
Explosive plays have been a huge issue for Kentucky this season as offenses have gained big chunks of yardage at times, which creates momentum and often leads to points.
Georgia has also had big struggles in the SEC so far limiting big plays and getting off the field.
When it comes to stats, the visiting Wildcats are 15th in the SEC when it comes to yards allowed per game at 396.5 and move up one spot to 14th when it comes to points allowed per game as they sit at 26.
Georgia has allowed 324 yards per game, which ranks it 12th in the conference. The Bulldogs have allowed 19.5 points per game, which moves them up one slot to 11th in the SEC.
What do the odds say?
Starting with the history between the programs, Kentucky and Georgia have played annually since 1969 and the Bulldogs lead the series with an all-time record of 64-12-2.
For the 2025 edition of Georgia against Kentucky, ESPNBET has Georgia listed as 29.5-point favorites over Kentucky and its matchup predictor is giving the Wildcats a measly 9.7% of winning.
Both teams are looking to get back into the win column as conference play rolls on with kickoff from Athens set for noon ET on Saturday, Oct. 4. The game will stream live on ABC.
