University of Kentucky’s football running back Jamarion Wilcox has been suspended due to a “violation of team rules” and had a Temporary Interpersonal Protective Order (TIPO) issued against him due to a domestic and interpersonal violence allegation.
Wilcox was not on the sideline in Kentucky football’s 24-16 win over Toledo on Aug. 30, where Head Coach Mark Stoops first said he was suspended.
“Jamarion was out today. I’ll update you this week,” Stoops said in a postgame interview. “Violation of team rules, and I’ll give you more information when I can.”
On Wednesday, Sept. 3, Wilcox appeared in court regarding a domestic and interpersonal violence allegation.
On Aug. 20, a TIPO was filed against Wilcox in response to an account of alleged domestic and interpersonal violence said to have occurred early that morning. It was served to Wilcox on Aug. 21.
The TIPO contained a no-contact clause stating that Wilcox cannot be within 500 feet of the alleged victim, according to court documents obtained by the Kernel.
Records indicated the incident happened around 1 a.m. in the alleged victim’s apartment.
According to court records, the alleged victim made a statement saying she was asleep when Wilcox came over to visit her roommate. She said he then got into bed with her without consent.
She said in the statement that Wilcox told her to “open her legs” before trying to force them open.
Wilcox tried to force his fingers inside the alleged victim, laughed when told he was in the wrong room and continued touching her, according to the statement.
She then left the room. Her roommate tried to get Wilcox out and eventually did, revealing to both of them that he was “completely naked,” according to the statement.
Wilcox was then escorted out of the apartment by police after refusing to leave for around 2o minutes, according to the statement.
The next hearing regarding these allegations is on Nov. 3, according to court documents.
Separate court documents also revealed that Wilcox is accused of having two dogs without city licenses or updated rabies vaccines.
A misdemeanor citation for the dogs was issued on Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 6:49 p.m.
Wilcox is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 19 regarding the misdemeanor citation.
The running back’s status for Kentucky’s game against No. 20 Ole Miss on Saturday, Sept. 6, is unknown. Wilcox is listed as “questionable” on the initial Student-Athlete Availability Report, last updated on Sept. 2.
As of Thursday, Sept. 4, Wilcox is still on the Kentucky football roster.
