Update: UK student with meningitis is improving

A UK student diagnosed with bacterial meningitis continues to improve, according to a statement from UK Public Relations.
UKPR announced Monday that a UK student had been hospitalized with a probable case of bacterial meningitis.

On Thursday, UKPR said the student is in “fair” condition and is no longer in the Intensive Care Unit, but she is still hospitalized at the UK Chandler Hospital.
“The student and her family appreciate the outpouring of concern and prayers but ask for privacy at this time as she continues her recovery,” the statement read.
UKPR said the university was taking measures to prevent the spread of the disease in the area where the student lives and with the people she regularly interacted with.
Others on campus were advised to monitor for symptoms of meningitis.
