Kentucky swim and dive had a strong overall performance in the Louisville Invitational First Chance Meet on Thursday and Friday.
Freshman Jack Haywood was the standout swimmer, winning the 200-meter freestyle (free) with a time of 1:37.82.
On top of Haywood’s performance, freshman Eli Greinke finished third in the 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:58.55, which was a new personal record. Freshman Murilo Amatuzzi followed in fourth with a time of 1:58.64.
Sophomore Paige Housman led the way in the women’s events, finishing in first place in the 400-meter individual medley with a time of 4:14.28, achieving the NCAA B-standard.
Freshman Avery Frece also stood out, as she finished third in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 23.35.
In diving, fifth-year senior Sam Duncan led the way with a score of 343.13 in 3-meter diving. Sophomore Gavin Hang followed in third with a score of 299.48.
Freshman Landon Isler also stood out, finishing fourth in platform diving with a score of 281.70.
On the women’s side, freshman Avery Giese had the strongest showing, finishing first in the 3-meter dive with a score of 274.58. Sophomore Kristy Pfaff followed in second with a score 264.70.
Sophomore Devynn Bishop led the way in platform diving, as she finished in second with a score of 244.13. Senior Abby Devereaux followed in third (240.68) and fifth-year senior Claire McDaniels placed fifth (226.80).
The Cats will be back in action in the SEC Tournament in Athens, Georgia, on Monday, Feb. 17.
