Clara Silva, the 6-foot, 7-inch center from Portugal, who committed to Kentucky in April, has shown fans what she’s capable of before she even sets foot on the court for Kentucky women’s basketball.
Silva, who is a member of the Portugal U18 team, recently went undefeated in the EuroBasket group phase during the FIBA U18 Women’s EuroBasket Championships.
Out of all teams, she led in scoring with 20.3 points per game, 2.3 blocks per game and player efficiency, finalized at a 25.3 rate.
On top of her impressive scoring and defensive performances, she also tallied 7.7 rebounds per game and 3.7 assists per game.
Her most impressive game came against Germany, where she scored 28 points on a 76.5% field goal percentage to go along with four blocks.
With such experience so far overseas, playing the last three seasons for Unicaja (Club Baloncesto Malaga S.A.D) in the Spain Liga ACB and now competing with Portugal, Silva is expected to have all the tools necessary to compete in the SEC.
As one of the tallest females in all of college basketball, the lights will surely shine bright on the Kentucky freshman.
