Kentucky football linebacker Trevin Wallace was drafted No. 72 overall, No. 8 in round three by the Carolina Panthers in the 2024 NFL Draft on Friday.
The junior from Jesup, Georgia, played three seasons at Kentucky where he finished with 166 tackles, 18 tackles for a loss, 10 sacks, five quarterback hurries, three interceptions, two forced fumbles and a pass breakup.
Wallace earned All-SEC Freshman Team honors for his 12 games and one start in which he had 32 tackles, four tackles for a loss, two sacks, a forced fumble, a pass breakup and a quarterback hurry.
A moment that stuck out from Wallace’s freshman campaign was a game-sealing field goal return for a touchdown in the Wildcats’ 20-13 upset over No. 10 Florida.
Wallace also appeared in 12 games his sophomore year, but he started in six games in which he finished with 54 tackles, 5.5 tackles for a loss, 2.5 sacks, two interceptions and a quarterback hurry.
In his most recent and final year as a Wildcat in 2023, Wallace earned team captain honors and started in all 12 games he appeared in. On the season, Wallace finished with 80 tackles, 8.5 tackles for a loss, and 5.5 sacks, one interception and three quarterback hurries.
At the NFL Combine, Wallace earned a score of 76, which ranked sixth among linebackers. He also received a prospect grade of 5.95 according to NFL.com, which evaluates him as an average backup or special teamer.
With his career at UK now finished, Wallace will look ahead to the Panthers where he will join fellow 2024 Draft picks such as South Carolina wide receiver Xavier Legette and Texas running back Jonathon Brooks.
