Honoring German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, predictions and expectations for the 2023 Met Gala are circulating social media and news outlets. 

The Met Gala, which is on May 1, 2023, is themed with this year’s spring exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, which is “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.” 

The Met Gala is a celebration of the exhibit and one of the biggest events in fashion each year. 

The most notable names in fashion, film, music, social media and other industries will walk the exclusive red carpet. 

Although the guest list is never revealed until the night before, there are a handful of celebrities you can anticipate will walk the steps of the Met. 

Beyoncé, the Kardashians and Gigi Hadid are just a few examples of who might show up. 

Lagerfeld’s notable methodology and industry-changing designs will shape this year’s exhibition and gala. 

Lagerfeld was a creative director for Chanel and Fendi and had his own eponymous clothing line. 

His innovations and contributions to famous lines like Valentino and Chloé are known for modernizing and changing the fashion industry. 

Some of Lagerfeld’s legacy and designs will be seen on the red carpet, possibly through actual pieces or inspired looks. 

The Met Gala begins at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, May 1.  

Rumors have been circulating the internet with the anticipation of the fashion-filled evening, including talk about the invitees. 

I think that Kristen Stewart will be there because of her close relationship with Lagerfeld. Some of his muses will surely show up, like Cara Delevignge and Tilda Swinton. 

I think that Swinton will wear Chanel since she fronted the Paris-Edimbourg collection in 2013. Chanel will most likely be a popular brand to wear with both modern and vintage designs that could grace the red carpet. 

I’m excited for the Met Gala mostly for the fashion, but I’m excited to see just who will attend. 

There’s been questions about whether the Kardashians will attend this year’s gala or not. Not only do I think they will attend, but there’s a chance that Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet will debut as a couple. 

I’m not a fan of the Kardashians as people or their fashion choices for the gala in the past. However, there’s no denying the entertainment they bring. I’m just hoping we don’t see another wedding-dress-ball-cap design.

After last year’s Met Gala, I’m excited to see what certain celebrities and designers come up with. 

One such person is Billie Eilish.

I thought Eilish’s 2022 Met Gala look was beautiful and on-theme. She has also proven herself to be somewhat of a fashion icon, and I think there’s a good chance she’ll be on the red carpet this year. 

She has sported both Fendi and Chanel on red carpets, often adopting a more relaxed fit that she has popularized from other carpets and her concerts, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see her in something like that again.

Dua Lipa’s look should also be exciting.  

She is one of the confirmed guests, as she is helping to host the event. Having only been to one Met Gala before, the 2019 “Camp” themed gala, I’m excited to see her walk the carpet again.

Lipa is also known for having a unique sense of style, and I’m interested to see what she’ll come up with. 

Another rumored star to take to the carpet is Jenna Ortega. Though she’s been acting since childhood, recent roles in “Wednesday” and “X” have made her skyrocket to fame and become a very popular actress.

She is known for wearing a lot of black or dark-toned colors, which I think could be very on-theme given Lagerfeld’s former designs.

I’m going to be completely honest; I’ve never tuned in to watch the Met Gala in the past. I mostly judge and critique outfits on my Instagram and Twitter after the fact.

This year it will be livestreamed on Vogue and various social media platforms such as Instagram, Twitter and YouTube. With the easy access of the Met Gala being streamed on various social media platforms, it would be silly of me not to watch it.

Especially since I know I will be on the lookout for certain celebrities and social media influencers I always find myself in awe of.

For this year’s Met Gala, I hope to see Zendaya because of her countless intriguing and stunning fashion statements she’s owned and brought to life throughout the eras of this event. So far, she has been to six Met Galas.

My favorite Met Gala outfit of hers was from the one in 2018. As an ode to Joan of Arc for the theme of “Heavenly Bodies,” she wore a silver chain Versace dress adorned with an armored belt and a connected neck and shoulder ensemble. I hope with this year’s theme, if she decides to attend, she will do the theme, “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” some justice.

Another person I hope to see is Emma Chamberlain. I admire her humble rise to fame and the way she carries herself through the craziness of it all. Her first Met Gala look in 2021, although not my favorite, was not the worst of the bunch.

Last year, she went completely on theme, and I thought her collaboration with Louis Vuitton was perfect for her. I doubt she will miss this year’s main fashion event, and I am excited to see what she will grace the carpet with.

I just hope this year everyone stays on theme and I’m excited to see what designers will decide to do with it.
