Marquis Teague misses Cousy Award finalist cut

Marquis Teague was not named one of 20 finalists for the Bob Cousy Award, given annually to the nation’s top point guard.

Teague, averaging 10.4 points with 4.5 assists and 3.1 turnovers per game, was on the initial list of 60 but did not make the cut when the list was whittled down.

Those who did make the list: Louisville’s Peyton Siva, North Carolina’s Kendall Marshall, Florida’s Erving Walker, Mississippi State’s Dee Bost and Duke’s Seth Curry, among others.

Interestingly enough, none of John Calipari’s past four points guards — Derrick Rose, Tyreke Evans, John Wall and Brandon Knight — won the award. (The winners in those years, sequentially, were DJ Augustin, Ty Lawson, Greivis Vasquez and Kemba Walker.)
