Reed leads Cats to opening round win

The UK baseball team opened the SEC tournament Tuesday with a 2-0 win over Ole Miss in Hoover, Ala.

Freshman A.J. Reed threw 5.2 scoreless innings in his first start since April 10.

Reed also starred at the plate, banging out a career-high four hits in four at-bats with an RBI and run scored.

Senior starting pitcher Taylor Rogers relieved Reed, his second career relief appearance, pitching 3.1 scoreless innings to complete the shutout.

UK will play Thursday against the winner of LSU and Mississippi St.
