Four baseball Cats earn all-region distinction

Four UK Baseball players earned All-Tourney honors in the Gary Region, according to a UK Athletics release Tuesday.
Senior Thomas McCarthy, junior Zac Zellers and freshmen Austin Cousino and Chandler Shepherd earned selection by a vote of media covering the regional.
The Cats were eliminated from the NCAA Tournament with a 3-2 loss to Kent State. It was the second loss to Kent State in the regional, also dropping a 7-6 21-inning affair to the Golden Flashes Friday, in what was the second-longest game in NCAA Tournament history.
The Cats did pick up two wins in the regional to give them the most wins in program history, finishing the season with a 45-18 record.
