Julius Randle, the top ranked recruit in the class of 2013, has narrowed his list of prospective schools to six.

In a tweet Tuesday, Randle’s high school confirmed that Duke & North Carolina are no longer in the running for their 6-foot-9 forward.

“Julius Randle narrows to 6: Kentucky, NC State, Florida, Texas, Kansas, OU.”

However, after speaking to Jason Jordan of USA Today, Randle’s mother voiced her displeasure in learning her son’s narrowed list of schools had been leaked.

“This isn’t the way that Julius wanted to put the list out,” Carolyn Kyles said.

“He wanted to do it himself, but this is his new list. It’s true.”

Randle has received a home visit from UK head coach John Calipari, who took along his 2012 NCAA national title ring for the five-star recruit to try on for size.

Two weeks ago Randle visited Lexington on an official visit, spending the weekend on campus, spending time with current players Alex Poythress and Archie Goodwin.

The visit also saw the Prestonwood Christian Academy star visit Calipari at the coach’s home for dinner, a tour of campus and attending the UK alumni game at Rupp Arena.

UK fan and coach at the alumni game, Drake also met with the top player in the 2013 class, with Randle posting a photo of the pair on twitter whilst sporting a UK sweatshirt.

You can read what Randle thought of his trip to Lexington in his own words after he posted a blog of his official visit on USATodayHSS.com

That visit appears to have been a success as the Cats remain in the running for Randle’s services, along with North Carolina State, Florida, Texas, Kansas and Oklahoma University.
