UK baseball has been ranked No. 8 in the nation in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper’s top-40 pre-season poll.

It is the Cats’ highest ranking since the poll began in 1958.

After earning a school record 45 wins in 2012, UK head coach Gary Henderson will be looking for the Cats to build on last year’s successes as he begins his fifth season as head coach.

UK lost nine players to the 2012 MLB draft, however the roster is still strong, and includes three players who have been named as pre-season All Americans; Sophomore outfielder Austin Cousino, junior pitcher Corey Littrell and sophomore pitcher/first baseban A.J. Reed.

The Cats get the 2013 season underway on Feb. 15 against UNC Asheville in Spartanburg, S.C.

UK’s first home game of 2013 will be against Murray State on Feb. 26 at Cliff Hagan Stadium.
