Freshman fashion

Madison Brotherton is a business finance freshman and the most recent trendsetter on campus.

She stood out in the lunch crowd at the Student Center with her furry, leopard print vest, which she bought last weekend.

“I got it at the Worlds Apart sale for $19 and it was originally $63,” Brotherton said.

Worlds Apart, Anthropologie and Bluetique are a few of her favorite places to shop around town.

Brotherton is currently in Alpha Delta Pi sorority and involved in the Scholars in Engineering and Management program, so she is considering switching her major to business management or marketing.

When she graduates she said, “I would want to work for a natural gasses and coal mining company somewhere in Kentucky.”

But if she could do anything, she would want to create her own beauty products with her degrees.

“My dream job would be to be a dermatologist and have a chemical engineering degree and make my own makeup,” Brotherton said.

She said her favorite makeup right now is her Chanel liquid foundation and NARS blush.

In her free time, she likes going to the gym, shopping and crafting things from Pinterest.

“But if I had to choose one thing to do it would probably be painting. I usually do acrylic paints on canvasses. I have a lot of monogrammed canvasses that I do for friends,” Brotherton said.

She grew up in Lexington and went to Sayre High School.

Brotherton was comfortable with small numbers — she graduated with only 50 other students — but she eventually knew UK would be her school.

“I have an older sister that goes here too, so she was the reason I wanted to come,” Brotherton said.

Brotherton is sure to be sporting more fashionable attire throughout the semester, so keep a look out for her and other emerging trendsetters on campus.
