The UK men’s basketball team was left out of the 68-man field of the NCAA Tournament Sunday night, the first time they’ve missed the “Big Dance” since 2009.

Mike Bobinski, the Chair of the Division 1 Men’s Basketball Committee, said Middle Tennessee, the last at-large team in the field, made the tournament because of their quality road record. He mentioned that same subject in why UK was left out.

“Watching them play these last couple of weeks without Nerlens Noel … they were unable to take their show on the road,” he said. “They lost by double digits to four teams that aren’t in the field.”

NIT information will be updated as it comes later in the evening.
