The UK men’s golf team will travel to Awendaw, S.C., this weekend for the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate tournament at the Bulls Bay Golf Club.

The tournament is made up of a strong 15-team field, which features four teams in the Top 25.

Duke, Clemson and Wake Forest are representing the Top 25 in Awendaw, along with last year’s tournament champions Auburn.

Junior Stephen Powers will look to rebound from an overall score of 225 at last weekend’s Schenkel Invitational, his second-highest three-round score of the season.

Junior Ben Stow will attempt to replicate his Schenkel Invitational performance, where the Salisbury, England, native snagged his first top-10 finish of his career as he tied for ninth place.

Also looking to continue his solid play is senior Chase Parker, who carded an even par, 72, in his final round, sinking four birdies in as many holes to finish with the lowest round of the day for the team.

The UK women’s golf team will also be competing this weekend in the LSU Golf Classic at The University Club in Baton Rouge, La.

UK took to the course last weekend at the Insperity Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate tournament and finished tied for ninth after shooting an overall score of 931.

Senior Betsie Johnson had her best performance of the season at the tournament, posting a 9-over-par, 225 to nab her first top-20 finish of the year.

Although senior Ashleigh Albrecht has been the top finisher for her team in four out of their six tournaments, she struggled last tournament and fell to a 45th-place finish.

The Cats are still searching for that winning formula that they were able to achieve in their Sept. 12 debut in which they took first place at the Old Waverly Bulldog Invitational.

Since then even a top-five finish has been just out of their reach, the closest coming in October at the Alamo Invitational where they managed a tie for sixth place.

Tournament play will begin Friday morning and conclude Sunday evening.
