Stanley Johnson, Emmanuel Mudiay to attend Big Blue Madness

Two five-star recruits from the Class of 2014 have revealed their plans to attend Big Blue Madness at Rupp Arena in October.

Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) High School prospect Stanley Johnson will use one of his five official visits to be at the Rupp Arena event in.

“UK visit is the 18th,” Johnson said on his Twitter account, @StanMan_41.

Johnson is ranked No. 8 in the Class of 2014 by

Arizona, Duke, Florida, Kansas, Oregon, Southern Cal, UCLA and UK are the eight schools the  the 6-foot-7, 200-pound forward is considering for college.

Johnson averaged 19.4 points and 8.7 rebounds per game for Mater Dei in 2012-13 as he was named the National Junior of the Year by Maxpreps.

UK head coach John Calipari has seen Johnson in action for the AAU team Oakland Soldiers several times in 2013.

The sixth ranked player in the Class of 2014 said on his Twitter account that he will also attend Arizona’s Red/Blue game on Oct. 12 and will visit Florida on Oct. 30.

Arizona freshman guard Aaron Gordon previously played with Johnson for the Oakland Soldiers.

Prime Prep Academy (Dallas, Texas) guard Emmanuel Mudiay also plans to attend UK’s annual open practice in Lexington.

Rivals rank the 6-foot-5, 197-pound Mudiay as the third best player available in the Class of 2014 behind center Jahil Okafor and guard Tyus Jones.

Once they make their college decision, Okafor and Jones both plan on attending the same school as part of a package deal.

UK is one of 10 schools on Mudiay’s list of potential schools along with Arizona, Baylor, Kansas, Louisville, North Carolina State, Oklahoma State, Saint John’s, SMU and Texas.

The Cats have one commitment from the Class of 2014 so far in the form of 6-foot-10, 225-pound five-star center Karl Towns.

Towns, along with current UK freshmen Aaron Harrison, Andrew Harrison, Marcus Lee, James Young and Derek Willis, attended Big Blue Madness in 2012.
