Ashley Lowery cleared to resume football activities

Junior safety Ashley Lowery has recieved medical clearance to resume football activities, family spokesman Doug Stutsman revealed on Sunday, a little over two months since Lowery was hospitalized following a car accident.

“UK doctors cleared Ashely to start practicing…beginning tomorrow,” Stutsman said on Sunday on his Twitter page, @DougStutsman.

Lowery was traveling in a 2006 Nissan Altima in his natvie Georgia on May 4 when the accident occurred, causing him to be thrown over 100 feet from the vehicle.

A stay in the intensive care unit at Northeast Georgia Medical Center followed before Lowery was relased from hospital on May 10.

UK begins its 2013 season under first-year head coach Mark Stoops on Aug. 31 against Western Kentucky University.

The game, which kicks off at 7 p.m., will be played at LP Field in Nashville, Tenn., home of the NFL’s Tennessee Titans.
