On Tuesday, Twitter released a new set of tools on the app that will help combat hate speech, cyberbullying and abuse.

The most prominent feature is a ‘Mute Words’ option, which allows users to mute certain words, phrases, hashtags, usernames and even emojis that they might find offensive.

The company designed the mute feature as self-directing since different people find different words offensive.

Twitter also suspended several accounts associated with the alt-right movement. The alt-right is a loosely organized group that supports white nationalism.

Many are questioning Twitter’s commitment to freedom of speech, but they said in a statement: “The Twitter Rules prohibit targeted abuse and harassment, and we will suspend accounts that violate this policy.”
