Potential travel changes under Trump

With Trump’s statements on borders, immigrants and Muslims, many are concerned that travel will be a casualty of the Trump administration.

One possible change is the end of amiable U.S.-Cuba relations. Cuba only recently opened for travel and business with the U.S., but Trump has threatened to terminate this deal. 

Another possibility is that airlines will capitalize on limited flights to the U.S. by foreign airline companies. Trump has proposed significant infrastructure improvements, including upgrades to airports. Both of these changes would lead to higher airfares.

Finally, Trump’s stance on immigration and Islam might sour some countries toward Americans. Many travelers think that if America becomes stricter towards immigrants and outside tourists, other countries will reciprocate.
